While core members of our Townships Young Voices team battled deep personal struggles, we managed to band together and pull off a record-breaking competition and a vibrant Awards Gala.
Our mandate is to lift young people’s creative voices and our work isn’t over yet: the Townships Young Voices edition of the Townships Sun magazine will hit newsstands on Canada Day. Winning entries in fiction, nonfiction, poetry, art and photography will be featured in this special issue.
This year, the Townships Young Voices had a record-breaking 90 submissions and an audience of 150 people celebrated 23 finalists and two schools, who were awarded $3000 in prizes during a Gala on April 6th at the Dufferin Heights Golf Club.
