You are warmly invited to the Townships Sun annual general meeting, and at the same time, to view an important touring exhibition, “Where are the Children?”
What’s Up?
The Townships Sun’s annual general meeting is the place to be on Saturday, September 27, 2025, from 3 to 5 p.m., at the historical Victoria Hall (downstairs), 125 Principale West in Cookshire. Guests will get to learn about the Sun’s trajectory over the past year and in the year to come. Subscribers will be invited to help plan that path by voting for the new board of directors. But there’s more.
The Townships Sun’s Communications Team headed by Noémi Blom will unveil the magazine’s brand new logo and branding package, giving it a new look to rhyme with the new content it had developed over the past few years.
Where Are the Children? Legacy of Hope Exhibition
Come early and get a close-up view of an important touring exhibition, Where Are the Children? Healing the Legacy of Residential Schools. It is now showing at the Cookshire-Eaton Art Gallery, courtesy of the Canada-wide Legacy of Hope Foundation. The exhibit explores the history and impacts of Canada’s Residential School system through Survivor stories, archival photographs, and documents.
Between 1831 and 1996, residential schools operated in Canada through arrangements between the Government of Canada and both Catholic and Protestant churches. One common objective defined this period — the assimilation of Indigenous children.
At the Cookshire-Eaton Art Gallery in the historical “Victoria Hall,” 125 Principale West (Route 108), the exhibit is open weekends, noon to 4 p.m., until October 5. This is the only showing in the Eastern Townships, and it is unforgettable.
