Dining Out: Lunch at L’Entr’Amis
by Marisa Tessier & Beverly Taber Smith
These photos by Marisa Tessier show two desserts: Can you tell which is a chocolate mousse, and which a gâteau au pomme (apple cake)?
The duet of desserts were part of a lunch enjoyed by the Dining Out Group of the Canadian Federation of University Women – Sherbrooke & District (CFUW). They lunched at a Townships’ restaurant, L’Entr’Amis, 734 13th Ave. N., Sherbrooke.
The Table d’hote lunch menu offered five main dishes and included an entrée and coffee. The Méli mélo de laitue, a mixed green salad, was appealing, The greens were surrounded by slices of cucumber and beets and were dressed with a refreshing vinaigrette with just a hint of honey.
The generous portion of puréed vegetable soup was hot and delicious. Both were served with warm rolls. For a main course, one lady chose the gratin aux crevettes aux poivron rouge, a delightful dish served piping hot in a ramekin. A generous number of shrimps were cooked to perfection in a cream sauce topped with melted cheese. It was accompanied by oven roasted vegetables including cauliflower, zucchini, mushrooms and carrots.
Another had the pasta dish, Tripolines à la volaille, sauce rosée, and declared it delicious. The dessert menu included a yummy chocolate mouse, and a tasty apple cake served on a bed of whipped cream. The service was efficient and friendly. We would recommend this restaurant and feel it is good value for the money.
